The Swegle Name
(pronounced sw-ee-gle)
What does it mean?
". . . 'Swegle' was not spelled 'S-w-e-g-l-e' in German.
More than likely it was spelled 'S-c-h-w-e-i-g-l-e.'
The English sounding 'Sw' had a German 'Schw' sound.
The first 'e' didn't get its sound without the 'ei' and 'k' is silent in German.
Schweigkle means 'flute player' in German . . . .'

Our Geny Queries
Feature Query:
Where are two Swegle family Bibles?
Back in the 1970s, we were in contact with two ladies married to Lafayette descendants.
They mentioned the family Bible of Phoebe (Swegle) Brown as being a source for some key dates.
One lady also had Alice (Swegle) Bradbury's Bible.
Where are these Bibles now? We have no idea.
Could you help us discover their location?
We have contacted the immediate descendents of these ladies, but none of them knew the present whereabouts of the Bibles.
